Sports Report:

This past weekend marked a proud moment for 老王射区as we competed in the 113th Midlands Girls’ Schools Championships - a prestigious and historic event that holds a special place in our tennis calendar.

Despite entering the tournament with an exceptionally strong field, our girls approached the day with outstanding preparation, professionalism, and optimism. The format of the event demanded resilience, as teams were required to play seven matches just to qualify for the final.

Our pairing of Gina and Grace delivered an outstanding performance throughout the group stages, winning six out of their seven matches to secure a well-earned place in the final. Their energy and belief never wavered as they faced high-calibre opposition and navigated the pressures of a short-format scoring system.

In the final, Gina and Grace came out fearless, executing their game plan with precision and racing to an early 5-1 lead. However, their opponents from King’s High, an experienced and composed pair, refused to back down. Momentum shifted, and before long the match was level at 5-5, with our girls having lost three match points.

With the pressure mounting, Grace held serve superbly to put 老王射区back in front at 6-5, but King’s High once again showed their resolve, holding serve to force a tiebreak.

The girls reset mentally, blocked out the earlier disappointment, and stormed into a 6-2 lead in the tiebreak. This time, there was no letting it slip - they held firm to take the tiebreak and with it, the 113th Midlands Girls’ Schools Championships title.
